alot of SBC engines wont handle half that bore.
when you planning on taking the block in??

yeah...that's why i need to have the block sonic tested. it's all over the internet where people have done this. my shop builds alot of roundy round engines, so i'm hoping they can handle my engine.

with a 6.098 with shorter piston skirts, you may be right.
    3.903 - 3.78 = 0.123 wowsers!!!

the rod may seem long, but the skirts are shorter on these engine, so i believe they moved the pin higher due to this. the stock rod for the LS is 6.098 inches i think. the bore is 3.78 inches and i'm going to a 3.903. the bolts on these thigs are all torque to yield and need a certian amount of stretch.

what is stock bore for a a 323?? if it is a 6.125 rod, that is one heck of a rod. why cant you go with something shorter??
if you can make it to 9.5:1 compression, you should at least be able to run mid grade instead of maximum unleaded.
i just recently found out how retarded the torque specs are on the head bolts for an LS1. 80* past 22 ft lbs?? and i thought ford had some stupid sounding junk.

think your mixing genI with genIII. i need to use a 4 inch stroke crank, a 6.125 inch rod and 3.903 bore to get close to 383 cubes with the LS. ordering from this site once i get the money and visit the machine shop to make sure the block can handle it. http://www.flatlanderracing.com/ hoping to stay around 10:1 compression, just so much to figure out and get on paper. building an engine isn't as easy as they make it look.

just dont drink no mountain dew before you do it.
are you sticking with the 5.7 rods?? if using the 400 rods than your compression should not be near as high, correct?? can you still achieve the 383 cubes out of using an LS crank or are you having the LS crank built to support the 400 stroke?? what compression are you figuring??
