Talking yup....another noob...

hi there, i thought i would post since i have a 1979 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 truck. it has a 6.6L(400C.I.) and a turbo 400 transmission. originally bought the truck to use around the farm here in Nebraska and for plowing our road and driveway. as of right now the truck has been moved to the driveway, soon to be in the garage, since i sat all summer. it sat for so long because the transmission went out beginning of last march. it only seems like it has first gear and reverse. so i will be doing a transmission swap/rebuild on it. i plan to try to fix it up some and do a couple motor mods. any rate, here are some picures of the truck before i moved it. place where it was sitting is covered in snow and truck was frozen to the ground but it got out. hope that maybe there are a few members in my area close to the Blair Nebraska area that might be able to help out sometie on the truck just to tinker.

Welcome.
Always willing to help with some wrench time, but Nebraska is a little bit of a drive.

wow...first Nebraska member on your board. i was looking for a board to post about my truck and find help. it isnt a looker, but it is big, mean, and loud. it goes on our property where i live where other 4x4s sould slide and get stuck. why wont my pictures load up as thumbnails? any rate, here are some links to pictures of the truck.

i am selling off my stereo stuff that i had to get the truck going again. just sold 2 of my 12 inch subs, amp, and box for $90. i paid $35 for amp and box at a garage sale, and $25 each for the subs. i still have 3 other subs and a box to sell that might be sold since i have the stuff listed on craislist. i will probably get a junkyard transmission, a trans filter kit, and fresh fluid in the truck to get me by until i can come up with the money to get a rebuilt one for $400. i miss driving the truck in the snow, so it was either sell off one of my cars or sell stereo equip to get truck running again. i hope to have the truck running again soon so that i can get money up to fix it up and post pictures of it as it comes along.

I think maybe the size of that plow exceeded the limit for thumbnails
Glad to see you got your priorities straight LOL

my priorities are where i want them. my girlfriend got beind on paying bills so i had to fork over $2500 on bills where some of that money could have gone toward the truck. now i am gonna have to get things together with money i come up with. not too happy bout selling my speakers, but i wanna drive my truck sometime this winter. i wanna get a tuneup done, fuel filter, valve cover gaskets, nicer breather, headers, and the transmission fixed.

Just kidding about stereos vs trucks for priorities. I make it a point to never judge anyone's circumstances since I probably have been in worse than most at several times. No offense intended, sorry if it seemed that way.

no offense was taken, just a lil bit upset that our plow truck didnt get a priority and be fixed any sooner than now. either way i am going to have a 4x4. a guy here in Nebraska wants my 1987 Grand Marquis as a even trade for his 4x4 Dodge Dakota. i have only owned the car for a month and a half and done lots of work to it. had windshield replaced, and rest of the work i have done myself. it has a new fuel pump, fuel pump strainer, fuel float, fuel filter, fresh tuneup of plugs wires cap&rotor. i have also installed new calipers, and bled the entire system it has a custom ccold air intake. the car also has a new stereo in it with all new speakers and also has a remote start for it. here are some before and after pics of the car.

not getting the Dakota. it has a lifter tap bad on start up, needs exhaust work and i dont feel like having to mess with that when i have a good driving car at the moment. i am trying to find a good running truck and not worried about the body since it will be used here on my farm. i keep myself busy with the cars i have. i like working on them and girlfriend thinks i am crazy always tinkering and working on our vehicles. i make my cars run like new when i am through
