Truck junky Hello, my name is Alan and I'm a truck junky. (Hi!) I currently have 3 trucks. 2 of them are drivers, 1 is a project. The drivers: I have a dark purple, regular cab, 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T with a stroked 360 (408) with aluminum 2.02 heads and a 150 shot of nitrous. It's run 11.64 @ 115 on nitrous at the 1/4 mile and an even better 7.33 @ 93 at the 1/8 mile. Next up, I have a 1984 Chevy Silverado. The work truck. It started out as a 305 and a lockup turbo 350, but when the 305 flat lobed a cam, I decided it was a good time to swap over to a 350 crate motor (the stock one). Later on, I also swapped in a 700r4. The truck has a pretty decent paint job, which was originally "desert sand over saddle tan". The colors are similar now, just a little brighter. The bench seat was also recovered and modified a bit in the process. All together with the 1994 pickup "take-off" wheels, it's a pretty decent looking truck. The project: 1934 Dodge Bros pickup. It looks like a coupe from the front. I bought it with no motor or transmission, so I have begun to install a more modern 225 slant 6 and a 904 lockup automatic. Also an 8.8 Ford rear end out of a Ranger. I'd own more trucks if I had more room, but I also have 4 more cars. 2 '29 Model A's. 1 runs, 1 is in several hundred pieces. A 1964 Corvair Monza coupe that I'm welding floors into and a new basket case that I rescued from the elements. A 1970 Mercury Marquis(or is it Monterrey?) convertable. I always get the names mixed up in my mind, but it's a HUGE whale of a 2 door drop top. That's my sad little story. The high points, anyway. Alan Dallas, TX

This one actually has a little bit of all of em in it, one way or another. That's the '34 Dode Bros right after I bought it and dragged it to the shop. That's my '84 Silverado pulling it on the matching tandem wheel 16' trailer with winch. ![]()

I'm not much farther along than this right now, but as soon as I can lay my hands on some 2x3 without having to buy a whole stick, I'll make up a motor mount/cross member and start to bolt it back together. I've already done a sheet metal trial fit and everything tucks away. I just need to figure out what I'm gonna do about a radiator. ![]()

Here's a link to a video of me and my Dakota at another 1/8 mile track. I particularly enjoyed this win, as my opponent came in on an 18 wheeler rig. I drove there and back. Video - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting

Yep, the trailer is painted to match the truck. The wheels match too. I actually live in Richardson, but the shop is in Dallas, right near 635 and Plano Rd. | |
