Cali. i have heard it is the only place on earth that one can snow ski and surf the tides all in the same day.

Those fromTexas can at least understand having distances within the state,
those on the east coast would have crossed several state lines before getting anywhere.

We have the place in the lower 48 with the most snow fall
and we have Disneyland. We have redwood forests and deserts.
We have almost 1000mi of beaches and a large share of the nations food grown here.
We have the super hi-techys of silicon valley and of course we have hollywood.

We also have a surprising number of true rural rednecks,
and an unfortunate collection of "alternative lifestyles" too.
And we seem to keep producing the weirdest thinkers ever sent
to an American legislative process.

And yes, I have been skiing on Donner Summit (Donner Party,eh?)
and scuba diving in the Pacific with abalone on the same day.
That was in my 4wd chev and it was used in both places.

There's a lot a places outside CA I think are nice,
but what would I want to give up to be there ?
I fall asleep listening to sea lions and could be skiing
in less than 3 hours. Vegas and Reno are both driveable too.

OK, I convinced myself, I'm not moving.

I am from So Cal born and raised. Its true, you can surf, then drive about an hour and snow ski. Actually more like 2 hours with traffic. Crab prolly knows, Seal Beach to Wrightwood or Azusa Canyon is not far from each other really. But I am not the least bit homesick. They can have Cali. I don't want it. You know alot of these people may not know about the history of Donner Pass aka Donner Summit. Where are you at in CA crab? I was born in Downey, and lived mostly in the Norwalk/Downey area until I moved to OKC in December of 90. Been here since. No, not real fond of the weather, but its not so bad. I call it a fair trade because I do like the economy here. An aggressive CA person can do well here in the slooooowwww way of doing things. Just get out and around the slow ones and move forward. So I do OK here. I would really love to move to AZ/CA border area around the Colorodo River, but live on the AZ side. I may someday, but most of my family has trasnplanted here now. I am big fan of Laughlin. Love that place. I'd be happy happy happy to live in Bullhead City.

One of my brothers lived in Seal Beach when he was at LMU
(all hail John Wayne Airport LOL), now he' in Irvine.
About have of my sibs are still scattered in NorCal where I'm from/at.
Other half of sibs are mostly in VA except the one lost in St Louis and is probably
moving to Canada (w/ spouse, both musicians with many albums out).

I flew to DC when one of my sibs got married but took a pass on going
to another sibs wedding in Malawi (Africa).
My policy is to only go where I can drive,
getting on a commercial flight seems like being accepted to Gitmo.
I have flown small before but nobody in their right mind is giving me a plane.

Still, it only takes just under a day to get from my house to yours,
so I get around. My younger son wil be out your way for a couple months
in a couple weeks, doing his thing in Lawton before he ships.

Oh yeah, that's another common thing out here, going fishing 30-50mi out to sea.
Nothing like getting your own salmon for dinner. Was a time we got them
in the rivers too during flood stages and winter runs.

HAha, you'll be back - like arnie says.
