77chevystepside is on a distinguished road
New from Montana

Been around a short while but thought I'd introduce myself. Chevy man since in high school. Have owned 55 & 57 cars, 68 Chevelle SS396, 68 Chevy 3/4 ton, 96 Chevy 1/2, & 79 Impala. Currently have a 01 Chev Silverado 1/2 4wd and I am restoring a 77 Chevy Stepside 4X4 SWB. I love this forum because guys respond quickly and have great advice. I will say up front I am not a mechanic or body man but have learned how to work on the older stuff because I never had the $$$ to hire someone to do it.
If you are interested in my 77 project you can look at a few pictures here. Pictures by Chevystepsidepu - Photobucket
I am retired and have the time to play around on these forums when I am not working on the truck so you may see more posts from me in the future. Hope nobody gets tired of them. LOL

Welcome to the site 77. I like the site too, not only fast responses and good advice, but it seems to me the regulars are a good group of guys. I also like the different age range thats here, its not all punks like I have seen on some forums, and the younger ones that are here seem to be well mannered. We have something in common. I learned alot because I was not able to afford to pay someone else to do it. Then the fascination took over after that, and even when I could afford to pay someone, I wanted to do it myself anyway. I don't trust anyone (reffering to shops) to work on my vehicles. I've seen some of the work shops do. So, once again, welcome. When do we get pics of your stuff??? Nice Project !!! Why did you get rid or yours Stump??? That looks like a nice one too.

It started costing me more than i purchased it for, and replacing things that fail 2-3 times gets old fast! I was a sweet truck though, loved driving that thing around,

replaced front end parts, front diff, rad (few times), motor, clutch (multiple times) t-case seals, complete front shaft, u-joints (many, many u-joints) rear diff, shocks, wiring, 4 wiper motors, wheels, tires, and Ever since my dad had a 96 chevy 3/4 ton i always wanted one, and when i saw my 98 on the lot, i bought it the next day, then sold the yellow beast to a buddy, since then hes replaced the trans, (to an auto) 2-3 engines(454s instead of 350s), rebuilt t-case, dented pretty much every body panel (sad) put in a body lift, a bumper and winch and who knows what else,

I`m proud to say that the ratio of modifications cost of my 98, to repairs cost, is the complete opposite of that 80 GMC....
