Mitsubishi delica 4x4 says hello

Greetings truck and 4x4 enthusiasts! I have been spending some time next door at the dog forum and thought I'd pop over to say hello and introduce my truck, well, bus, or van, really, but she's a real 4x4. A 1992 Mitsubishi L-300 delica. Starwagon. 2.5 liter turbo diesel. She was made in Japan for Japan so is a right hand drive. I thought that that would be weird, but it only took a few minutes of motoring to realize it is not relevant. Great 4x4. Super in the snow and off road. Lots of of the aficionados put in lift kits and so on, and a number are kitted up to run on Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO). I've done neither, but do blend WVO into the diesel - 50% in the summer. We use the bus to haul our gardening trailer everyday for work, as our daily runabout, and I take her into the rugged backcounty of Vancouver Island (West Coast Canada) on cave exploration trips. Just love my truck!

Thanks guys! bradrhale, she came in to the country with 64,000 original kilometres and was very clean, though, like all of them, in need of a serious mechanical refit - timing belt, tensioners, water pump, various seals, new rad and more - $2,000.00 CND. The Japanese guy who owned it for the 15 years prior to me used it as a ski vehicle and that's about it. Very common for these rides to have low numbers on the odo and often, even at 15 years old, to have zero rust. The deal here in Canada is that such imports must be 15 years old

The Aussies and Brits can get them at 5 years old, but you lot in the USA must wait until they are 25! On our delica Canada (delica.ca) web forum we've had a number of visitors from the States looking for a way to get one down there, but few have had any success. I just love the cab-over for daily motoring, but especially for off-roading. Oh, and that little diesel is a real kick too - my first diesel! Thanks again for the welcome guys! Happy motoring all!
