| That text speech and shout-out stuff serves to remind me just how young some of you folks are. I just passed a wedding anniversary with more years than some here have been alive. Yet I'm not 60, or even 55, or even close to it. Nor close to 30 (sigh). NO ONE had cell phones when I was 25. (Yes, we DID have electricity.) We did have CAR phones but they were too big to install in Hondas. What we originally had were radio phones. First get the operator, tell her the number, then while conversing squeeze the handset trigger to talk, somewhat like a CB radio. At one point I had two car phones, two home phone numbers, and three pagers since no company provided coverage for even 1/8 of California. I'm done with my "reachable, in-touch" years, had more than enough. Now I have a home number that my wife and mother can get through on, another I give to those who "must" have my number yet I never answer, and a cell that costs me $20 every three months which I have used about six times in the last year. I'm using a new system these days. I have twin receivers mounted about 5.5' in the air. Works great, even has spam filters. There's enough folks who want to yank my chain that I see no need to voluntarily wear a leash. K-Sara,K-Sara Maybe they should use text speech for something useful, like the 1,200 page bill congress is voting on that no one has read. If it's shorter, maybe someone WILL read it. Nah, still not likely. ![]() |

| CQ CQ brad. Did get into it as a kid some many years ago. Haven't had the equiptment for 10 years now though. I would like to get back to it at some point. I don't know if it was on purpose or a typo, but it was funny as heck either way. Did you mean to say affinity or infinity ? ![]() |
