Guess I should say howdy

Greetings gents and ladies!

Let's see... what I can I tell you about me that I didn't already stick in my profile?

Well, I'm a general contractor w/40+ years of experience (family business - went on my first job when I turned 6), spent 14 years as an EMT in NYC (both professional and volunteer), got into computers back in the 80's and wound up with two degrees and working as a magazine editor until I got bored with it (anything to get out of the family business at times), and I also spent a few years managing a 3 bay shop up in NYC.

Currently in Fredericksburg, VA (by way of Allentown, PA, Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC - each of which I've lived in the past nine years). Just bought a house with my g/f last year, so I think that kinda derails my "master plan"... which was that if I moved a little further southwest every few years by the time I was ready to retire I'd be living in Cancun.

Vehicles... I've had quite a few in my time. Some of my favorites were a 1970 Plymouth Fury III with a 318. I put about 5 grand into that car and never touched the body or interior, but you could reach in the window, turn the key, and she'd fire right up no matter what the weather was. And also run a 1/4 mile in the nine's

Had a 1979 Saab (model 99 - the old one) that I loved, but lost that when my house blew up (busted gas line while I was at work), then a 1984 E-350 that was a former WJZ-TV news truck. Big *** antenna boom (50 ft extended) between the seats, roof platform, generator & air compressor, roof A/C and a newly rebuilt tranny and 460 motor under the hood. Couldn't afford to keep putting gas in it though so I gave it to a buddy with a scrapyard for parts and picked up my current ride, a '99 GMC C3500 utility truck with a 6.5L turbo diesel. It's named Harvey, like the rabbit in the Jimmy Stewart movie, mostly because it's white, a lot quicker than you'd expect, and there's a colony of rabbits in the drain culvert under my driveway that like to sit under the truck.

Anything else you want to know, just ask. I'll either give you an honest answer or make up something really good that will crack you up.

Was that what I stepped in as I came through the door? Whew! That's a relief... I thought I might have squished the forum mascot or something...
