What's up? Hey, I am in the market to buy a work truck and have my eye on an 1998 GMC Sierra 3500 with a 7.4L V8 (wich I believe is the 454). It is a dually and is 2WD. It is an Auto with a Quad Cab. I am buying it to repo cars with. I have a few Questions I would like to get answered before I buy it. If any one can help me that would Great! 1. What kind of MPG can I expect? 2. How Reliable is the 7.4L V8? 3. What is out there in the aftermarket to put a little more pep in it's step? 4. What kind of HP and TQ #'s will it put to the wheels stock? 5. What options are available to Change from a duall wheel to a large single wheel? 6. How do they do in the snow? I am sure I will have more questions as I learn more. Thanks For Your Help! Jeff

Thanks! I was wondering about the single tire because I heard they are bad in the snow. I was told that they pack snow in between the tires and they become like ski's. Would that still be the case with some "eaters" (ie: BFG Mud Terrians) on the back?

A HD diesel truck will be better and you will get getter mpg and it will last much longer and it will have all the power you need.

I have been looking for a diesel for about 4 months now. I haven't been able to find one that has all the things I need for the right price. I was looking at this truck as a means to an end. I can pay cash for it, do some sprucing up and sell it for more than I paid. Or I can keep it as a back up truck. I own a Self Storage biz and have about 2 acres sitting open, I want to start a part time Repo Biz and use that land to store the cars. I want to get going asap! I have two other trucks with MT's on them that do really well in the snow. I can drive either one of them if the snow gets bad I was just wondering how it would do if I got caught in some freak snow storm? I live in Dayton, Ohio so it isn't like we get 4 feet of snow or anything.

How does the Auto Trans do in these trucks? Is there a way to decode the VIN so I know what rear end is in the truck? Are there any other issues they are known for I should know about?

| Sorry for all the questions. I am not familiar with these bigger GM trucks, just want to make a good choice...
