 |  service 4wd message in message center Hi. Just joined the forum tonight and am looking forward to being a member. I bought a 1999 Silverado exteneded cab with 93K on the clock last year. Runs great, no real problems, but I've been getting an intermitant "service 4wd" message in the message center for the last month or so. The 4wd drive system seems to work fine. I use the truck to haul a snowmobile trailer to remote areas and don't need a breakdown on a logging trail at 10 below. The owner's manual says to see the dealer when this message appears. Before I do that, I'd like to know what might be the problem. Any advice will be most appreciated. Thanks. |

| if it is the push button 4x4, change the switch on the dash, it costs about $50, that is what my 2000 z71 was doing and it fixed it, |

 | knowes beena problem with some sort of acctuator or something on the chevy's that has been causing this problem.... but not sure what yr models

| got same prob with my 00. only happened to me twice since last oct and went off when i restarted the truck. someone here said it could be possible ground wire they had problems with. i aint that worried about it. |

| the problem with my buddies was when that light was commin on, the actuator (or whatever it was) was tryin to send the truck into 4wd while i was going down the road...... thats somethin i'd be worried about, if you have that problem
