MAF Sensor

Have any of you with B2600s ever replaced this part? Did you notice any difference such as improved gas mileage?

if your current one is bad, definitly replace it.. it would increace gas i yours is bad, due to the fact that the vehicle can have no idea how much air is entering the engine, so it will run very poorly and rich to make sure it doesnt go lean. if it is not bad, i wouldnt replace it...those are rather pricey. i know you can buy aftermarket ones that alter the signal voltage, so your fuel map would change for performance (as opposed to buying a chip)

Is your existing part bad?
Are you looking for a bolt on "goodie" that will provide you wuth better gas milege? Is this your quest?
I have to say, unless there is a problem with it, or you have engine modificatiions that have exceeded the air flow span parameters, then you will probably not see the results you are after.
Good tune up, and a slightly better driving style would net better results in the long run, with a lower initial cost.
Heak just making sure the air pressure was in the tires could increase mileage.

I was reading about it on the Autozone web site. It says this sensor controls the pulse width of the injectors. I'm very pleased with how my truck starts and runs but I feel the gas mileage should be better than 15 to 16 mpg. I want to think a sensor is causing the computer to run the motor a little on the rich side.

I kind of doubt it....You can clean the filiment wires by spraying them with brakeclean (key off) and it should be good to go. There are too many other things that can effect mileage to shoot from the hip and throw an expensive sensor at it. A vacuum leak for example would cause a lean mixture so the ECM would add fuel dropping your mileage... As mentioned.. tire pressure.. as well as size. Lot`s of possibilities.

I think I'll check for vacuum leaks. I believe I read an easy way to check for leaks is to use propane? The idle will jump when the gas is sucked in by a vacuum leak? At one time I connected a vacuum gauge and did all the test outlined in the shop manual. All the readings were within spec.
