Burning smell
Whenever my truck has been running for more then about a min, it will start to smell like burning radiator fluid. I have already changed the hose and did a clean out. I can't figure it out... I know there is a leak somewhere because I can see random white liquid drips (I will get a picture of it) and build up of coolant (or some yellowish/clear liquid) where the truck has been sitting. Also the truck idlies very fast and sounds like it is studdering with a weird ticking noise. Although it will start and run fine.
Any ideas?

hmm. I would say waterpump but that doesnt account for the burning smell... have you checked the hoses where they go into the firewall for the heater core? That could cause a drip on to the exhaust creating the burning smell..

For a B3000, this is a Ford Ranger engine. It could be just about anything.
Get it up on a hoist, and see where it is dripping from, it is probably splashing onto the exhaust manifold from just about anywhere. For the fast idle, that could be timing, it could be loose linkage (common problem with Rangers & 1993+ Mazda's), it could be your idler is off, get a haynes/chilton manual. ![]()

if it is a small leak, it will be hard to see.... Ususal suspects are where the rubber meet the steel, tends to rot more there. Lots of spots though... john is right, heater core is the best shot. But there are a dozen hoses carrying this fluid, could be anyof them...

You can buy a dye that you can put in your rad to find a leak. It'll turn your coolant a fluorescent orange color and alot easier to see than the green. It wont effect the coolant at all.

what year make and model is the leaking truck? a bad heater core usually is noticed by a foggy window or coolant fluid on the passenger side floor. I hate that burnt sugar smell I hope you figure it out

Clutches? Some rubber underneath the truck. That's bad, maybe some parts will be affected by that and the next time you knew it, it would be a serious prob. Exhaust do really smell bad, but it's worst when you can smell it while inside the ride. mazda oem can be a solution but you can look for great deals for you can have it perfectly.
