'98 B3000 heat/air fan/switch issue...

Hi all,

Newbie. Just bought a '98 B3000 4x4 to pull my boat. 120k miles...runs strong.

The heat fan seems only to work on high...through the driver and passenger vents. When I put on widshild defrost I do feel some air in the vents under the windows with the switch in 3rd position (of 4, 4 being the high). It seems like it should blow much harder on anything but position 4, and 4 is blasting.

I guess my main question is...does thing sound more like a switch thing, or a fan blower motor thing? And how hard is something like this to trouble shoot? Is it a common issue on higher milage b3000s (as it seems my one defunct dash light probably is

)?

PS - KlrBill is my screen name on several forums. It is from one of the first forums I joined years ago related to my Kawasaki KLR 650 dual purpose cycle...and it just stuck. It's not that I'm some kind of tough guy though some seem to like to call me "killer" just because of the "klr". But I'm really a lover and not a fighter.

do you have this same problem with the ac or just the heat?? will heat blow in every position or just through the vents?? will the blower blow on something other than high or is that all??
