rpm's hover between shifts

I've got a '90 2600i 4x4 and every time i shift it hovers for a bit, which results in a crappy shift every time, all the vacuum lines look good is there anything else that could cause this?

have you checked you throttle cable for kinks or frayed ends.. that will cause problems...

ya it goes in to gear fine, and i was poking around under the hood today looked at the throttle cable and it looked good. I manually turned it and it's got a bit of slack in it, i think I'll try some spray lubricant on the cable tomorrow,I'll get back to ya.thanks

did you happen to notice the spring... how did it feel.. if you pull on the throttle by hand it should snap back... if it seems to go back slowly you eaher have a cable problem or a gummed up throttle body or weak spring

you could have some badinjectors... they will keep sprayin when the throttle is let go... try running some injector cleaner like sea foam through the system using the brake booster... there is a video on youtube that shows the steps.. if you cant find it ill look the link up...

On our extra MPV one of the transmission solenoids is bad and it causes that to happen but when I put in power mode it doesn't happen that's why I know it's that also when MPV trans fluid is dirty it will do strange things change out fluid with filter if you haven't done that and last if that doesn't help add a can of Lucas trans additive. I have written this before but to clean the trans before a fluid change add a can of Trans X it will leave the inside looking brand new might even fix a trans if it has to much junk in it I tried it once on sisters car and it fixed it car was taking off on second gear sometimes third gear.
