If both transmissions came from the factory setup for 4WD they will interchange. If one is 2WD and one 4WD you will need to swap the output shafts.

ya both are original factory 4x4, I'm only worried because my gear shifter for my tranny goes through my t -case and on a auto i don't know how its setup. another question to do valve guides and seals can i do them with the head still on the block or do i have to pull my head?

The best way to do valve guides and seals is to remove the head. If you already have it apart I would suggest replacing the valves, springs, and retainers (keepers) at the same time. | |

but what I'm looking for is the quickest way to do the seals, if its possible to do the seals and guides with the head on the block I'd rather do it that way(less parts to deal with on the garage floor)

honestly it is quicker to do it withthe heads off the truck... but then you have to replace the head gasket and exhuast gaskets... i have done them both ways and it was so much easier to do it withthem off the block... guides are a pain to begine with.. then add that you cant take the valve out...lol it aint fun.. i had to do it withthem on the truck before because my boss was a cheap ***... didnt want to spend a few bucks to save himself my labor fees..lol he wasnt happy with what i charged him for the job but to top it off i told him it would have been cheaper to do it right and he almost fired me.... good thing i was one of his crew cheifs and not his full time mechanic
