AC resister

I know that the AC/heater resistor is located behind the glove box on my 1990 b2200. My question is, because of the difficulty in obtaining a replacement resistor could the current resistor be by-passed with a different kind of resistor?

didnt know that they would be that hard to find. probably find one out of a ford somewhere laying around. why not just leave the fan on high temporarily until you can find a replacement resistor??
