1999 B4000 shifting problem

Mazda B4000 4.0 litre automatic trans with 195,000 miles.

When under load I feel two or three jerks or hesitations. example: Going down the highway at 50 or 60 mph and press on the accelerator, the
tackometer stays at about 2500 rpm and I feel a jerking or hesitation two or three times then goes away. But if I go down the highway at 50 to 60 mph and depress the accelerator and the tackommeter jumps to over 3000 rpm(I assume it has down shifted), I do not have the jerking or hesitation.
I am assuming it is trying to down shift - but is not engaging fully instantly. Took it to a transmission shop - They told me it was not the transmission but was a plugged catelytic converter. Replaced it and have the same problem. I still believe it is something dealing with the Automatic transmission. Any suggestions?

Patb

The problem ended up being a clogged catalytic converter. The B4000 has two - I replaced both and no longer have the problem

I was gonna say bad tourqe converter cause I knew someone that had that same type of problem and thats what it turned out to be. But then I was wrong. I hate when that happens.
