Ignition key with computer chip

I recently purchased a used 2000 Mazda B3000 pickup. I have only on ekey for this truck & since it has the anti-theft feature that requires a key with the computer chip in it( and they are quite expensive), I am wondering if anyone out there knows if the anti- theft feature can be disabled. If anyone knows of a way to disable this so that a standard key can be used, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help.

Not without causing alot more trouble than its worth. Without the chip key the vehicle will start but the theft light will blink and the vehicle will shut off the fuel pump in a few seconds. Just spend the dough and get the right key. its the smartest way to handle it.

My grandmother's car has that chip key thing. You're right it is pricey... but its worth it and CG's right... it'd be too much hassle to try to undo it.

The dash light behind my temperature gauge and also my fuel gauge has gone out. How in the world do I replace these bulbs? Does the instrument panel have to be torn out just to replace these bulbs? I would appreciate any enlightenment on this problem from anyone. I forgot to mention that this is on my 2000 mazda B3000 cab plus. Thanks
