OK.....I'll try to keep this as short as possible for those who haven't read the last post. I have a Mazda B3000 that is only 19 months old. The brakes went bad 6 months after owning it. (under warranty of course) Then is stopped shifting at all about 2 weeks ago. It wouldn't go into gear and then if it was in gear wouldn't come out. ANYWAY I called the dealership I got it from and asked for the service dept. The girl who answered took all my info and then told me my truck was not under warranty!! We argued about it but she said anything having to do with the clutch was not covered. I also spoke with the service manager the next day and he told me the same thing...he asked if I wanted to make an apt. and I said no because I couldn't get it there anyway. He said OK then. Well, finally I called a different dealership and the service manager there said it sounded like the slave cylindar and THAT was covered. He offered to send out rodeside assistance and pick up the truck for free. They have now had it since LAST Thursday. I had to RENT a car in the mean time until they figured out what was wrong. (It was a bad slave cylindar) They figured that out on Mon. so then they loaned me a car Tues. Then they tell me that since the transmision was already out I may as well get the clutch done for $430 + the overnight ship fee for the parts I'd have to pay. Fine...$450 done. They called yesterday and said the truck was ready so I left work early (The dealership is 30 miles from my house and a good 60 from my work) I get there and they have charged me $530!! The extra $80 was "taxes and shop fees" He goes to get my truck and it's NOT FIXED!! Now they are saying they won't have it done until Tuesday!! They told me I was lucky 'cause normally Mazda only allowes for 2 days for a loaner car and that NO other dealership offers that. I told him that maybe no other manufacturer has a car break down with in 2 years of purchase!!! So now I've paid $85 for the rental (They won't cover it because Mazda ONLY pays for 2 days regardless of the problem or that it is under warranty!) plus $530 for the clutch and lost 2+ days of work for a NEW truck that is still under warranty and the dealer ship is like......Sorry, company policy!! I guess this is more of a vent but does anyone know what I can do to get at least some of my money back. I'm calling the Mazda Customer Service dept in the morning and the BBB but what else?

I don't know what state you're in but in California, the have a Automotive Board that regulates repair issues. Seems to me you might have a "lemon law" issue developing here too. If Mazda Customer support doesn't get you satisfaction, one other idea would be to set up camp on your days off in front of the dealership with a big sign that says something to the effect " Don't buy a Mazda, their warranty is worthless". You might also have the service manager show you where in the warranty contract he is allowed to charge you for all your inconviences for a repair job he gets refunded by Mazda. Sounds like crooked business practices going on here.

Yeah.........I think I'm being screwed. I'm starting another post too because now they have over billed me for something else that they said Hey, since we have the transmision out why don't we do this too! I agree to $450 dollars and the bill came to $530! and it turns out I think $87 of it is the diagnostic they had to do to find the bad cylindar that was under warranty!

There is really no diagnostic to check a bad slave cylinder other than the fact that it moves the fork or it don't. Simply put, it's nothing more than a mechanical/hydralic operation. In fact the cylinder on my B2200 has collasped from not being used for the last 6 mos. No big deal, just bleed it and it works. Get a detailed list of what you were charged for. If items are under warranty, the diagnosis of such problems with those items should be covered. If you were given a quote and charged more than the quote without your consent, that is basically against the law in just about any state I've lived in.

Oh I forgot one more thing. What service manager would suggest changing out a clutch that's only 18 mos. old unless it was damaged or burned up because of the bad slave cylinder and therefore should be covered by the warranty too? Sounds like you might have to threaten them with a lawsuit. Maybe a talk with a lawyer might help. What state are you in?

| Clutch wont burn up because the slave cylinder. It just wont engage, or disengage. As for the lemon law it has to be a reapet problem more than 3 times.Sorry for the bad news.
