Had my CDL-A since '96, haven't driven the whole time though... I have about 1000 pictures posted at
WWW.NERDSCOUT.COM, which temporarily went offline but should be back within a couple of months. That's where I usually dwell in cyberspace... I have heaps of material posted there, including previously-published stories and hilarious trucking blogs. I understand that this site is geared more toward 4-wheelers (by that, I mean anything with 4 wheels, not necessarily 4-Wheel Drive, 10?), I just wanted to share some pix while I'm waiting for my friend Ron to bring Nerdscout back online. Thx 4 the response, all those pictures were scanned from developed (paper---i.e. old school) photographs... one of these years, I'll crawl out of the Stone Age and get with the program, yeah??? 'Round here, we still communicate via smoke signals, usually after torching the property of someone we don't like (lol---like the "Crusty Demons of Dirt")... sometimes, less is more!!! Okay, I'm outta here, just wanted people to know that some of us 18-Wheelers are out here by choice... it's not for everybody, that's for sure, especially family men, but some of us confirmed bachelors who have spent decades in the field find the lifestyle irresistible, like PAID TOURISM or PERMANENT VACATION, day after day after day. En Espanol, I'm just another "TURISTA PAGADO!!!" Once a hand gets it all down to a science, the rest is pure gravy, as you can see from my photos... even when I'm not trucking, I can be found in the outdoors, sailing, climbing, remote camping, etc. It's what I do while off duty, and it's what I do whenever I find time on the road. Think of it as enjoying my "retirement" before I'm even "retired." Do you know what it means to be "retired" from the trucking industry? It means you drove 1000 miles, got tired, drank half a gallon of espresso, drove another 500 miles, and got tired again... you've "RETIRED!!!" On that note, I'll thank you kindly once more before surfing the Net on this fine afternoon. They call me "THE RAILSPLITTER" when they're not MAD at me, which is why you'll hardly ever hear my handle, 10-4? "ADIOS, AMIGO!!!"
