if you have no experience with engines, i might lean towards finding a friend that is to help you. these intakes are alot more complex than the standard carb'd engines. they are however a bit better than the SFI that houses a fuel spider underneath. if you feel like you have enough mechanical knowledge and are patient, i would get a dependable manual and read it over a few times to familiarize yourself with it first. doing homework always gives you the upperhand when it comes to the more complex jobs. i will not lie to you. this is not as simple as replacing plugs or even a fuel filter. i would not suggest this to someone that is not mechanically inclined. but if you feel confident in doing this, study up and take pics of the top of the engine to use as referances when you go back together with everything. if you need any help or advice with anything, you know where to find us.
1. Remove the intake manifold.
2. Remove the wiring harness assembly from the knock sensor.
3. Remove the knock sensor.
4. Install the new knock sensor.
Tighten the knock sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
5. Install the wiring harness assembly to the knock sensor.
6. Reinstall intake manifold.
knock sensor adjust your spark timing to keep down on spark knock associated with spark timing. in EFI systems such as yours, spark is retarded to allow for the higher compression engines. retarded spark timing is heck on an engine at idle but works well at highway speeds. this sensor is easy to replace as it has a couple of wires in a plug and the sensor itself unscrews out just like an O2 sensor. anything else you want to know??
