as the story is told, an older man goes to the returns desk of an undisclosed store with four tires and wants to return them. the returns clerk states that they can not return them since they do not stock tires at the store. the guy swears that he bought them at the store many years ago and demands they take them back. as it turns out, there used to be a tire shop on the property years before the home depot was built there. after listening to the old man and having the knowledge of the tire shop that was once there, the manager on duty(MOD) asked the guy how much he paid for the tires. the guy named a price and the MOD pulled that same amount out of the register and gave it to him and then proceeded to hang one of the tires on the wall behind the desk to remind the associates that the customer is always right.
