in a sence... It does not look like a typical resistor though. It is a square about 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch by 1/16 thick. From everything that I have researched it will not hurt anything unless you hold the lock button for an extended period of time.

Yeah, about covering the resistor with tin foil. By doing so, did you short across the reaistors bare wires thus shorting out the reaistor and applying full voltage to the solenoid coil?

Did you get a mod kit from Ford or some other parts outlet or did you just replace the resistors.?
