1995 Nissan P1400 CODE

Has someone had a P1400 code? My check engine light is on.

It is a solenoid, and can be checked just as any other solenoid, by introducing 12vdc to the correct terminals.
Here is a link for a maxima (but the checks are the same) and might help you out a little bit.

In the above link under section diagram 5, there are steps 1 through 7 xplain how to check for operation of the solenoid.
This is a simple verification, you are only checking to see if the solenoid energizes and de-energizes when voltage is applied and removed.

Then you should hear a click when you apply 12V right?

i dont hear a click on mine when I apply 12V.

You should hear and actually feel a click. When I check them, I usually put a small piece of hose on one of the fittings, and check for the valve to open as I try to force a small amount of air through. If the solenoid does not change state (no click) and the valve does not open, and allow air to pass through, you are in luck, and you have successfully diagnosed your problem. Take that to your local auto parts for a direct replacement, and you have just moved up one level in automotive mechanics.

I had something similar to repair some years ago. I cant remember what it was but it was the same concept.
