I have a 96 Nissan pickup. On the passenger side the head light only works in the high beam. The other side works perfectly. Do I need to replace the head lamp? When I try to start it, there is a whirring sound, then sometimes the truck starts, but sometimes there is nothing going on. Not even a click after that weird sound. Thank you.

Yes it would appear that you have a bad headlight, and this will need to be replaced. As far as your no electrical issue, you have a common problem for Nissans. The main battery cable corrodes inside of the insulation and breaks down. Insect the cables, including the ground, and replace as required.

Also, try cleaning off your battery posts and cable clamps with a wire brush.

I had both my high beam head lights go out at the same time I was puzzled at first so I broke out my volt meter and found out that both were burnt.
