Max load for an '84 720?

Hi all -

I had a '71 F250 for years, and gradually hauled more & more thinking some day I'd find its comfortable maximum load. Most I hauled was 5,200 lbs, and it still had spring travel to spare.

Now I'm driving an '84 Nissan 720 (king cab). As far as I know, it still has the stock springs. I'd like to move a 6' long log that weighs about 2,000 lbs, but before I lower it into my truck I'd like to be fairly confident I won't bend/break anything. Anyone have experience hauling so much weight in the back of their 720? Anyone ever push one past its limits, and if so do you know how much weight was too much?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

-Allen

ouch !!

i think you would be about 1000 lb's to much for this truck with the age on it ,the springs were a little weak out on the end's and liked to bend they were not fully supported buy the second leaf and replacement's could be expensive and hard to find .

Maybe not stock?

Thanks for the tip. I've got c. 1000 lbs in it now and it _seems_ to drive fine. Maybe a previous owner put in stronger springs? If anyone knows of a diagram I can look at online, I'd be curious to compare an image of the stock springs to what I have.
