1991 nissan truck stater removal help

so i am trying to help a buddy out by changing out his stater for him but am having some real problems removing the top bolt off the starter. i ended up going as far as draining the oil and removing the oil filter but still no luck getting the bolt to twist and ideas on how to get it loose would be a big help.

also i removed what i believe to be the lower bolt but it was only maybe an inch long and i have never removed a stater bolt so short, i see no other bolts around that seem like they connect the starter but that just does not seem right,

any help is much appreciated
o and the truck is the 6 not 4 cylinder

If i remember right the bolts are longer then that! And its a ***** to remove the starter. You need to buy a book at your local parts store Haynes or Chilton. It will tell you how to do almost any repair on the car.

It helped me along with this site to replace a timing chain. All most a must have.

But their is only two bolts holding it on.
Also those bolt heads would be facing the radiator.
Just unbolt the wire and remove the two bolts
then wiggle it out of the truck.

DONT FORGET TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TERMINAL!!
