2001 Xterra strange problem

hey guys, I have a 2001 Xterra V6 2x. I have a strange problem cant figure it out. I get coolant in the overflow but it doesn't get sucked back into the radiator. Because of this I overheated the X last night and now my check engine light is on. This has been going on for a few weeks. I have changed my radiator, my cap, water pump, thermostat, and flushed the engine. I need some serious help. Is there a way to reset the check engine light?

unhook your battery cable over night..... easiest way i know of..... only thing is, if it is throwing codes, It'll come back on when you start it, and the computer does its scan....

might replace the overflow line or at least clean it out if not flowing back into the radiator.
