00 frontier ac problems

i have not had alot of time to look at the MILs truck and diagnose what the problem was with her ac. it would be on sometimes, and not the other times. you never really knew when it was going to work.
she ended up taking it to the dealer and having it fixed after the good BIL took a look at it. i had to look these parts up cuz i had no idea what they were talking about.
my BIL had wired around the trinary switch and gotten the compressor to turn on, however the compressor would not cut off. bigger problem but disconnected the bypass so nothing would eat itself. problem was with the thermo amplifier. HUH??
for future referance, a trinary switch cuts power off to the clutch when the pressure is not correct. but, this switch also keeps the electric fan from coming on until pressure reaches a bit over 200 psi on the liquid line. interesting. the thermo amplifier basically tells the ECM if ice or a freezing temp sets up in the evap coil. if this detects freezing, it will but off the compressor relay via the ECM. new one on me.

never heard any of that, i just got certified in ac repair. makes me wonder about my education.

i think it is a Nissan thing. i have been unable to find anything from the big 3.
