trans out

Anyone lead me in the right direction to start looking. I have a 1993 Nissan king cab 2.4L 2wd automatic, the transmission was working fine and then it went out sitting at a drive through. I ordered my food and when I went to drive up to the window it was like it was in neutral. It is full of fluid.

Sounds like time for a new trans. How many miles. Was maintenance regular. Fluid smells burnt?
