seems like a newbie question but i am flustered

Hello all, sorry to bother everyone with this lame question. I have an 83 nissan truck 2wd manual tranny bought fer 30 bucks. when i bought the truck there was no tranny. the guy i got it from had someone put a clutch in it for him and when he went to pick it up the person doing the work said his tranny got stolen. The clutch and pressure plate have been installed, but I have no tranny. Looked everywhere locally and no luck. just wondering if anyone knows if anyother foreign truck tranny might bolt up. i would like to apologize again for the lame question...

First of all, it depends on where you're located. Second, I'd recommend sticking with the Nissan. Do you have a pick n pull or pick apart or any junkyard nearby? or within driving distance? That would be your place. About $200 as opposed to over a grand for a reman one.

i second ford4x4chik27 and nissan really doesn't match up with any other models not like (chevy and issue) and (ford and mazda) nissan is a match to its own.

The 80-87 datsans and nissans shared the same parts. it was in the mid 80's that datsun changed names anyways. When you look in the bone yards, keep that in mind, you may get lucky.....
