Clacking on Cold Start

I never had this problem before. Only 70K on my truck, and Im using fully synthetic motor oil.

I just switched over to a Nissan Oil Filter, Ive been using Puraltor since I bought the truck and NEVER had this problem.

The clacking goes away after about 6-10 seconds.

What do you guys think

What type of syn oil? It sounds like it is not coating the engine parts, so you have to wait for the oil to circulate. I imagine this is going to cause some excessive wear.

Has it done this before you went to syn oil?

Mobil 1 Fully Syn. 10W-30...I used the same oil since I bought the truck, the only difference this time is that I changed to a Nissan Filter from a Puralator. Last winter was really really cold and it never clacked at all !!

Is it possible that a certain type of oil filter should not be used with syn oil
I also wonder if you could get a bad batch or oil... strange that it just started with the change and only when cold, really suggests the heads are not staying coated with oil.

I don't think so but all oil is not the same though. Some oil can remain on the parts longer than others.
