1999 Nissan Pick Up Issue

I recently cleaned the engine of my 1999 Nissan 4 cyl truck at a carwash and the moment I started the engine after the cleaning the check engine light came on and the truck runs very badly. It seems like a vacum hose came loose of either I got water in the gas someway even thought I hardly hit the engine with the pressure wash hose. Not sure but I was wondering if anyone else ever had this problem and what they did to correct it?

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Danny C.

Let it dry. Wet systems can be funny that way. If you soaked the ignition system, you may just have a misfire, and that would result in the code, and indicating light.

Thank you for the quick reply but it has been 36 hours in 70 plus degree weather and I also drove it for an hour or so and no luck. I plan to bring it to a dealer tomorrow if by some stroke of luck it does not correct itself by then. Amazing it was running great before I tried to clean it . . . let a sleeping dog lie, I think that is the old saying. Thanks again.

i think i would take it to a parts house and find out what codes it pulls first. you are going to beat yourself up if you take it to the dealership for some hundred dollars when it can be repaired for nothing of next to nothing.

Great advice Brad. I took it to my local Advance Parts Store and a clerk plugged in and shortly I learned that the water from the engine wash affected my #4 Spark Plug and it's firing order. New tune up (I needed one anyway) fixed the problem.

Thank you very much,

Danny C.

1995 pick up

Transmission fluid was pouring out from the front of tranny. So, I changed the front seal. It drove fine for about 7 miles then started giving me problems. Fluid is still coming out. Look as if its coming from behind top converter. Have anyone ever heard of converter going bad or what other problem could this be. Pump, bushings, converter or all the above.
