Lemons are the way to go, but you are going to need a small LED. The current produced by a lemon or other "veggie battery" is very low, and will not light even the smallest of light bulbs. May even take a couple of lemons wired in "Series" to produce enough "juice" (pun intended) to light a bulb.

If like many rush projects, you don't have time to play with the setup, use at least 3, but better 4, lemons.
Make sure to "abuse them first by rolling and squeezing them, don't break them.
Use a zinc coated paper clip and a similar size cutting of copper in each spaced about 1/2" apart and 3/4 way deep.
Link them with cheap aligator clips.
Works ok usually with a LED but a piezo (buzzer) is more like classroom drama
and will work better on a lousy construction.
Besides, everyone knows that electricity goes "zzzzit!"
And it usually works with only 2 lemons with the buzzer.
Could also try touching the contacts to tongue like the old 9v test LOL
My wife teaches grade school and we have played this game a lot.

Hey 75, I just read Victor's link and found a hydrogen equation.
Guess we were not technical enough in the bubble machine thread LOL

I was reading and trying to calculate the discharge of H2. Maybe smoking around the "Veggies" while the experiment is acceptable, due to the low emissions levels, however, we know H2 is being discharged, so in the name of science, there is combustable gas present, though probably levels of less than .5% LEL.
As I was reading, I also noticed the DAQ system and had to click and look at the competition, (so to speak, lol), I opened it and read about it. Well I have nothing to worry about, My Chessel DAQ makes that thig look about as technical as a toaster, and not even a nice one that toasts multiple pieces, Lol.
Hey by the way, I need you to E-mail me with your info again. I seemed to have deleted your last one, and do not have your ship to info. The girls in the office reminded me that I have not sent you your 4000 series recorder yet. I need to do that right away.

we treid yesterday afternoon with potatos, and were gettin almost 1.5 volts, (dont remember the amperage) but werent able to get a mini-mag light bulb to light up. i was pretty sure it'd work with LED's but not positive and was thinkin lemons would also work better. what does abusing the lemons first do?
