paging all computer people

i wiped the hard drive clean on an old desk top in the house and want to use XP as the operating system.

my question is, will this ( http://www.viosoftware.com/Windows+X...2+OEM+DSP.html ) work or do i have to have a previous OS on the computer for it to work?

The OEM version is not an upgrade. You will not need a previous install of windows on the system to install. The only catch with OEM versions is that the OEM not Microsoft is responsible for technical support. Since you will be acting as your own integrator, you will be responsible for tech support. That's no big deal if you're good at google should you ever have a problem. I have no idea about that particular company and I don't know if the OS they are selling is a licensed copy of XP or just a clever clone.
