Next. Some more wires

as you can tell, electrical is not my thing. its not that i cant figure out how to unhook these, i just dont want to go to yanking on wires and mess somethin up. if you're sitting in the drivers seat looking left of the steering wheel is where these wires are. i believe they send the signals to the dummy lights in the dash to turn on (bright light indicator, P-brake, blinkers, up-shift, etc) the pictures are only of the left side, but theres an identical setup on the right side too

my best guess? i'm thinking you will need to pull the main harness at the firewall and remove it with the dash.

thats what i was thinkin mud. the whole dash can actually come out with just 4 bolts and pulling the steering wheel, but the seal between the windshield and tub (WS folds down) has been leaking so ling the entire top part of the dash is solid rust, i'm slowly workin on getting them 4 bolts out. so i'm takin the dash apart piece by piece, and until i can get to the firewall it's gonna be slow. theres TON of wires ina small space down there.... the previous owner had an alarm installed, so thats a lot of junk, and there was a system in there, lots more wires

take a bunch of pics so you have a reference to go by when re-installing. especially if wires aren't your thing just take your time and it should go easy.

I would take out the alarm if you dont have the clicker for it the only thing you really have to worry about is the starter wire most alarms have a starter kill option that requires you to cut the starter wire and hook the alarm between it. just cut out the alarm and make the starter wire one piece again

can you see if there is a smaller plug for just those wires plugged into the main firewall plug (like a component piece)?

I am confused. Since this project seems to be spread over many different threads, maybe I missed it. What exactly are you doing anyways? A complete rebuild or overhaul? Or stripping down another unit for parts?

i'm completely stripping down the inside of my jeep so that i can get a bed liner PROFESSIONALLY SPRAYED (that was for mud) in. and while i'm in there, i want to eliminate the unnecassry alarm wiring. get rid of the wiring that was for the sound system that was in there. and fix any small problems i run into along the way. and leolkfrm, there is such a mess of wires in such a tight space underneath the dash its almost impossible to tell if thos wires have another plug. and to make it worse, theres lots of wire bundles that are taped together which makes it even harder to trace wires down

hey camino i'm just saying if you have the extra money you can buy a painless wire harness so you don't have to worry about those old wires. you can buy diff. sections so that you only buy what you need. or buy the hole thing for like 500 to 600. just a thought

wish i could tell you something useful camino. only thing i know to tell you is that you better think again before letting mud spray your jeep. i think he is cursed when it comes to the cosmetics.
