same thing happened to the Dakota that was with us when we were riding our dirt bikes.

don't you have a fullsize spare?
That's a good point then you will need body work, just buy a used one till you buy the bigger ones you want wouldn't want to hear you rolled your truck and got hurt.

Okay, so quick sidebar for a story on the subject...

As some know, I used to drive a 1992 BMW 525i as my daily driver. Well, I loved this car, it was fast, sleek, quiet and everysingle toy you can think of in 1992! Anyways, it was also very well balanced. Here is how I know. and I wish I still had the pictures to tell this story...

I was cruising down rt 30 on my way to work. about 5:30 am. Now when I say cruising, I mean flying... roughly about 85 steady, passing everyone. Anways, I saw what seemed like a flashing headlight in my rearview mirror. First though? COPS!!! But nope, I looked behind me and all i saw was a thick white cloud of smoke! I thought the car finally kicked the bucket, motor wise anyways... I mean it did have almost 350K on it. so I intended to pull over. I accellerated and it giddy'uped quite well so I began to second guess myself. I quickly changed lanes to get out of the passing lane... saw an opening, darted for the shoulder and then as quickly as I could came to a stop. There was smoke every where!

I popped the hood and got out. waslked around the car to open it. Now I felt NOTHING... herad NOTHING and sensed NOTHING... just saw smoke! When I got to the pass side to pull up the hood, I glanced down and wouldn't you know it! NO FRONT TIRE!!! I mean NONE!!! just a rim. I have no idea what happened, they were brand new! I looked behind me on the freeway, NO DEBRIS. so, I had to remove my speakerbox and pull out my spare... late for work. installed it and the whole time thinking, why the heck I did not flipp the car, or even feel it?!?!?! There was nothing left of the rubber, so no luck on the warranty return. 298 dollar tire! no joke! But not my biggest worry. My worry was the rim. Genuine BMW honeycomb rim. 1000.00 dollars a piece! But low and behold, when I brought it in for a new tire..... No scrapes, no dents, no warping... perfect rim! Weird huh? dodged a bullet there!

Now I have been told since that the car was designed to be soo balanced it more then likely ran on three wheels until I stopped, and therefore no road damage on the rim. Now I do not know if this is true, but I will tell ya, it took weeks for my pulse to stop racing.... One guy told me I had an angel wrapped around that rim that day, and I got to say, if there was ever a case of a godsent miricale, I would have to say that was it.

Anyways since then, I have been very aware of the condition of my tires. I had to share that story, and hance part of the reason this little slice has me freaked out!
