| AHHHHHH advice pleaseeeee!!!! Okay, I was my trcuk once a week, and everytime I scrub the grime of brake dust off my wheels and tires. Sometime between last week and today, look what happend! ![]() ![]() It is only one layer deep from what I can tell, and I have lost no air pressure.... But this is my right rear wheel, or A.K.A.... my power wheel.... I am not 100% sure, but I think they are 4-ply tires. I have NO IDEA what did this, I must have run over something, or spun them over a peice of sheet metal or something. It is a lot thinner then it looks, I rolled it to have the weight on it to show it better.... but it is about the thickness of a razorblade and fades out in a curcle around the sidewall to nothing.... SHOULD I WORRY?!?!?!?!? I am not nearly ready to buy new tires yet! I was going to wait until my lift came in so I can just buy the 31's or 32's I want. However, I have also heard that on the same axle the two tires need to have the same tread depth... and these tires are so worn, if I buy a new one, I would have to buy two, and it kind of defeats the purpose... know what I mean? I drive everywhere, everyday, all day. my job involves my truck. for all I know, it has been like this all week, and therefore for the last 678 miles! Again, no decrease in tire pressure... Am I going to have to spend the money on tires now?!?!?

| i would replace it before the tread separates from the tire and takes a chunk of your body panel with it. same thing happened to the Dakota that was with us when we were riding our dirt bikes. don't you have a fullsize spare?

| Yes, I do, but it is the original from GM, a goodyear I think, deep tread, different tread design, and I am not sure if after almost 11 years of non use how reliable it would be long term.... If I am right about tread depths and patterns for drive axles disrupting the integrity of the transfer case, would it be wise to run the spare for a while?

| i don't think you will have a problem. if you were running a donut on a live axle for awhile, then i could see you killing the gears or something.

| Any ideas on what could have done that? , I do not really travel to many commercial const. sites, and i do not remember and road debris.... but it does not look like it was done on purpose... and if it was, they sucked vandalism since it is still inflated!![]()

| nope, I looked. I thnk it started on the left and moved in deep. And it let go at that point. I have tryed to stick a penny in there to see how deep and appearent it was, and while I was at it, examined for a puncture or something left just to try an figure it out... I am sooo stumped.... I wish i knew what did it in the first place so that I can AVOID it happening again....LOL...

| I highly recommend putting somthing else on there, for saftey sake anyways, could be many things that could have done that...sure sucks though, i`d sure be ripped if i saw that on a good set of tires....

| they only have 19k on them.... 60k tires and that one alone had the MOST tread! Oh well, I will get the spare on there sometime this weekend. Meanwhile, I have a birthday party to plan.
