Thumbs down front wheel drive

changed a belt on a chevy corsica today. talk about a pain. you practically have to remove the engine just to get to the darn thing. some genius at GM decided to route the belt around a motor mount, so you have to prop the engine with a jack, undue the mount and snake your hand through the 1 inch space between the engine and the inner fender. even the belt tensioner was weird, the bolt was facing toward the engine so i couldn't use my breaker bar for leverage. took almost 2 hours to do a 2 minute job.

if you looked at my arms you would think i was dragged behind a truck on a gravel road.

you know onthe corsica there is a panel you can remove to do the belt... i have changed them many times.. the wife had one when i met her and so did my best friend... lol it seemed like they both wanted to go bad at the same time every year... but for a little front wheel drive car there unstopable inthe snow..

now he tells ya.
i had a belt tear up on a fwd dodge van the other day. tensioner was bad. since it belonged to the county, i did what anyone else would have done. i took it to someone else to mess with. already knew better than to attempt that.

yeah they suck. We changed the belt's on my g/fs lancer a while back. it was a pita. It has those screw type tensioners and where the bolt was located for both tensioners You only had about 1/2 of room to get the socket/ratchet on it. don't look forward to doing them ever again.
