I never get a break (no pun intended)

i get the boom lift put back together, thinking i'll have a easy winter from this point forward. boy was i ever wrong. i guess 25 tons of hydrualic(sp) pressure was just too much for these welds.

thats my first guess. thats why i have a manual one. 15lb maul. if you can break it, ill call you sir for the rest of my life.
dont feel bad mud. cooked ribs all night last night. this morning, figured i would get on the computer but didnt turn it off when i got done. came back inside about an hour later to find that we had lost power. when the power came back on, my computer wouldnt. come to find out, my power supply box was shot. did not trip the surge protector or harm anything else. just got the box. so $48 later............. back up and running.
watched a big truck running about 70 on the way home with 2 shredded tires on the trailer. same axle, same side. rim was on the ground and she wouldnt hang up the cell phone.

i guess the guy that was using it about filled his shorts when it broke. i don't know how it happened but the metal around the weld looked like it had rust on it. and yes, it was a log splitter, now it's a pile of scrap.

reckon it sounded like a shotgun going off?? that is no pile of scrap. id take it in a heartbeat. really wouldnt mine having one to split these larger logs with the harder hearts.

well, only half of the splitter went in my scrap pile. they don't pay me enough to do the amount of fab work it would take to get it back to a safe working condition. i'd have to grind the old welds off, bend the plate back straight, take the hagered edge off the beam and find someone with a tig welder.

i opted to spend $300 of the companies money on a new beam section.

Now to me the welds look bad like if there machine wasn't set at the correct temp.

My Sister is an AMA for Home Depot in West Vancouver BC. IF they can afford to lose the $3500 in theft from copper wire every month for the last year, $300 for a new log splitter is nothing..

the wire is nothing, we pretty much have the copper pipe fittings under lock and key.
