loss of important parts

No not truck parts, MY FINGER! Got my hand smashed today and broke the first joint on my left ring finger, broke bad enough that the fingernail was touching the second joint of the finger. When I tried to straighten it I damaged it further and now may loose part or all of it. The sad thing is I had to tell my wife about it.
Some of my co workers are on here and I wish to thank them for the instant response in removeing the 300lb part that I fabricated that has and will benifit our Fab shop. I always stay on them about saftey in every aspect and I was "The lesson for the day"
I am 30 years old and have been in the business for 15yrs and have never been and example, always a leader on safety. Now I am a leader and a statistic. I grew up with a disable Dad that was injured by a drunk on a forklift. Now I had the run in with the forklift that I created at the same age as my dad.

Saftey Safety Safety.
Thanks Guys!

You have my sympathy.
I have taken tons of bangs to the hands and fingers with no damage.
That gives the wrong impression though,
many don't realize how easy and quick it is to get hurt.

At one point or(and?) another before I was 18,
I have broken every bone in my left hand except
my thumb's three bones.
One I broke pointing at an eleven year old girl,
another I broke getting out of bed.

Can't be too safe,
and safe as in your own bed don't impress me.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but you will learn to adapt, I wish I could take back 30 secs of my life from 1981, but i can't so I still scold myself today.
today there are many ways to repair the body. I'm surprised you are home already, when the doctor say therapy give it a 110% you gain the most back in the first 6months

I hope you recover fast I seen this show this morning that the only way to save this guys hand was with all sorts of pins I thought the guy was going to loose it. And Leo I hear you I wish I could turn back time I would be fine right now instead of having to take med's for pain med's to **** and so on.

safety is a huge part in the workplace. i too have been known to take a shortcut once in a blue moon and tend to pay for it later on. most people laugh and joke at these rules and safety practices but do not realize that they are there not to mock or make fun of us, but to keep us free from danger. maybe your event will inspire those around you to take things slower with a more open mind. hope you dont lose your finger.
