Rebuilding a floor jack?????

I have a Crapman, er I mean Craftsman 3 ½ ton floor jack. It is junk but man is it pretty. I bought it a few years ago and got very little use out of it before it started to give out. As much as I would love to throw it in a scrap pile, I think I should try and repair it first. I am spending enough o tools as it is so I would like to avoid buying a new floor jack if I can help it. Have any of you tried it? Can it be rebuilt and working like new again?

It is not leaking so I doubt it is the seals. I has lost a lot of lifting power. You can feel it getting weaker as you crank it. Plus, it takes several more cranks that usual to even get it to biuld pressure.

this is infact a sealing problem though. if it is not building up pressure, one os the seals inside is leaking. a hyrdalic cylinder is going to have at least 4 seals. 2 of which are visible from the outside and 2 on the bottom of the piston inside. this is probably where your fluid is bypassing not letting pressure build.

i have not rebuilt a floor jack like what you are talking about. i have been into the 20ton jacks we have at home but they use fluid/air. it doesnt take long to rebuild a cylinder and very easy to do. key is to have everything that you need so you might try taking it apart and running the cylinder up there so that maybe yall can cross referance something for the right seal kit. worth a shot anyways.

I would, but I need it working before I get home. I also have rebiult cylinders before. But I have never touched a floor jack. Most people have told me they cannot be rebiult. But I have the belleif that if it can be taken apart, it can be rebiult.
