that's why i sucked my savings almost dry for the first year until i was no longer considered under my parents. (dad's a GM retiree)

thunder, its got more to do with how your taxes were filed. they must of claimed you as a dependent. also, do you have or are ylou eligible for HOPE scholarship or grant? thanks to hope, i make money each semester i go to school

Yeah my parents claimed me as a dependent. I got the HOPE grant last quarter. And I got a award letter saying that I have it for this year (this quarter starts a new school year). I am going down there today to find out whats going on.

i wouldnt, theres no way i could go to college without it, heck, i work full time as it is just to afford to get by. i'm trying to get a pell grant also, which you dont have to pay back, that'll just be extra money since hope is paying for all my school.

I talked to the school. It turns out that the HOPE grant only gave me $100 dollars for books. Which stinks because most of the text books in the school cost MORE then that. Oh well I guess a little help is better then no help.

well hope covers all your tuition and gives you $250 for books and other stuff, must of that gets takin up by other school fees
