i need a free ad blocker. these banners and what not on other sites are slowing down my browser.

or i just need to upgrade the video card or what not.

i have a pop-up blocker and run avg free, i just need something to get rid of all the banners and google ads on these websites. trying to research my engine build and it gets frustrating.

If they are part of the website embedding than you cant block them if they pop up then you can block them!!

if your running windows xp , go to the top , look under tools , and make sure the pop up blocker is turned on .

i know what you are talking about mud. i havent found anyway to stop that except for the puters up here at work. somehow, they block darn near everything.

I put bogus entries into my hosts file to keep my computer from being able to resolve the names of many ad companies. If you're interested PM me for details.

he is not refering to pop ups. he is talking about the banners that flash when you go to websites. go to MSN. com and they are there on the right. it is actually part of the website and not a pop up.

edit: i type to slow, brad beat me to it.

they're not pop-ups. it junk from google and other sites that pay to advertise on the forums. yes, this isn't the only forum i go to for information.

it's junk like the sparkly banner at the top of the page that say you're the 1,000,000,000,000 visitor, click me to claim your prize. i hate it and it needs to go away.
