The old man that owns the junkyard that I most often go to, told me last summer:

"That's a nice truck you got there boy (I'm 50) and I can see what you're trying to do. But, let me tell you right now, it ain't gonna seem worth it at times. I guarantee you - that you will spend months and months restoring it and when you are all done -about the most you'll get from people is 'Oh yeah that's nice'."

He's turning out to be exactly right. Actually, I am beginning get the feeling that there is a certain segment of my friends/relatives who are starting to question my sanity. Never mind getting a feeling - they come right out and say it - "you still working on that truck? You're out of your frickin mind!"

I just don't even mention it anymore.

Unfortunately I've gotten to that point as well. ...workin on my truck when no one else is home just so I don't hear any sarcastic remarks about it... I enjoy the peace and quiet though... just man, machine, and lube.

They joke now but when they need help moving something, or getting unstuck from the ditch they drove themselves into, they love the truck more than anything.
