| i have stuck with XP ever since it came out. everyone told me to upgrade to Vista but i stuck it out. now all i hear is, i wish i had XP back. now its Win7. sorry, but i think ill stick with what i know works. vista might have worked better if they would have maybe installed an adequate number of drivers. but no. they had to be secretive about it like they had something. give it time. i promise that you will be going back. |

| depends on the system. I have a buddy that has run vista 64 bit and not had a single problem, but he also has a cadillac home built computer. I have another buddy that works in IT and says that win7 is an awesome OS, Looks of vista with the reliability of XP. I'll be looking forward to win7 but I have to say that I have not really had any problems out of my vista experience. Thought it was the OS at one time but it turned out to be the hard drive.

| i am a stick with what works kinda guy. win7 might be a new great invention but i have seen several operating systems take off and fall right on their face. anyone remember the first version of 98?? how about ME?? NT did somewhat good for itself considering it was not intended for residential use. |

| Yep, Please, Please, let Windows 7 be what they say it is. I was on the Test Pilot for Windows 7, in sorta kinda way. I have had windows 7 Beta on another computer, not my daily user, for about 10 months now. Of course it has now expired for updates and such but I can still use it. Mud is right, it supposed to be Vista on steroids with all the things that people did not like about Vista fixed and or improved. It seemed OK for what I used it for. Did have some nice features. I am assuming the reason MS called it 7 instead of just making another service Pack and correcting the things, is because Vista was such a flop they did not get the hype and the revenue they wanted. So now they just start all over with a new name, new hype, new unveiling etc etc and hope it takes off. Me, I still have my main 3 computers running XP Pro. They have been for years and are the most stable computers I have ever owned. This comptuer I am on now, is over 4 years old, never been restored since the day I took it out of the box, and its still plenty fast. In fact, I built me a new computer about 11 months ago. Its a power house and I still use my good old trusty 4 year old computer. The powerhouse I built about 11 months ago, is the one I am running Windows 7 on. Maybe when the real 7 comes out, I'll get me a good legit OEM copy of 7 and maybe make the conversion.

| Thanks for pointing this out Mud. I got the new MS Office thru the Ultimate Steal college and education program. Full blown version and even had more than Office Pro with it. It was true Ultimate Office. I think it was some ridiculous $79.99 or something like that. You go buy it in the retail store its like $700. You could also get Vista Ultimate Red Full Version for cheap. I think you still can too, but it expires in like December if I remember right. The Red is same version as retail, but some of the proceeds go to a charity is all.
