i thought it was WVO or waste vegetable oil. unrefined vegie oil to get technical as you can run both refined or unrefined. multifuel can run on nat gas, propane, or gasoline. possible E85 also.

WMO is Waste Motor Oil

I've seriously considered converting over my GMC to use WVO from one of the tanks, but it's more trouble than it's worth at the moment.

Well, I was actually looking into converting half the system to Waste Vegetable Oil, since there's always a ready supply at most restaurants. The system I was looking at simply required it to be well filtered, have a tank heater, and heat the filter (using tubing and tapping into the heater lines). The difficulty comes in how the dual tanks are setup on later model GMC's, with the system auto-balancing between the two tanks. I'd have to take that system out, then rig it up to the way it was in the 80's, with a switch under the dash to switch tanks.

When diesel was $5.00+ per gallon, that looked really, really good. It would have cost about $1,000 to convert, and I could recoup that quickly, especially with the truck getting 10-12 mpg. Now, with diesel down to less than half that, and the cost of the parts now almost doubling, it'd take too much cash outlay with a long time to break even.

Plus, having half the system setup for WVO would effectively halve my range on straight diesel, so if I were taking a long road trip I'd be stopping every 200 miles or so to fill up, unless I found a restaurant I could get WVO from.

Oddly, in my local area, diesel prices are crazy, with stations on opposite sides of the same road having prices that are 25-30 cents different. A good example in my local 7-11, which had diesel at $2.47 today, and the Valero station just across the street had it at $2.59 Or, better yet, the local Shell station which has a 10% bio-diesel blend for $2.44, while the BP across the street, and the Texaco right nextdoor, both had regular diesel at $2.79, and another Shell half a mile down the road had regular diesel for $2.89 Crazy!

I have used waste motor oil in my old 6.9, burns very good, no heating or extra mods needed(in my climate) I usually do a 50/50 mix with diesel and any used oil available, motor oil, hydraulic oil, transmission oil, etc. The main thing is to make sure the oil is clean, no dirt or large amounts of metal. I filter the oil from the drain pan into a clean container and again into my tank, i have even used strait WMO at times. I am not sure if this is against the rules i will include a link to a forum with a lot of knowledge on the subject.

I do know a guy up in Maryland who has the exact same truck I have, who has over 350K on it. He said that the only time the truck has ever had diesel in it was the first tankful when he picked it up new from the dealer. He runs it completely on waste ATF that he gets for free. No lack of supply either, seeing as how he owns four Jiffy-Lube's
