You have some things in common w my dad. He does not believe in bandaids. He uses, napkin, paper towel or tp and then duct tape. He swears he invented the water proof bandaid first and got ripped off without any of the proceeds. Been using it like that for as long as I can remember.

If someone was to work with me for about a day on the stuff, I'd probably have all the confidence in the world to do and then take off like man with some cRAzY ideas. What's even funnier I have 2 welders, 1 of them I have had for 15 years and I bet I have not got but maybe 2 hours of use of it. I did stick weld a trailer tongue onto a trailer I shortened. Look out everyone, a guy sitting here admitting he can not weld, did weld a tongue on a 2 ton trailer. No, it was not pretty at all. But it has held obviously. Sold that trailer years ago. I hope to never be the vehicle behind it if it ever comes loose. I have an old Lincoln Electric 220 V Stick welder that is like brand new, and I bought one of those cheap $149 mig wire feed welders from HF. i am wanting to say I paid under $80 for it, since it was on sale and I used a 20% off coupon. I did unbox it and load the wire though. I welded a screw to a V8 head, just to see if it works. It worked.
all my skills are more or less self taught althow i did take body/shop in high school 41 years ago where welding was a buzz box and gas .

that's my hydraulic scissor lift , it goes up to about 56" , it's also just wide enough to put the garden tractor on to work on , with my broken right arm and bad knees , i can't get down low enough to do any thing , i've already fell a couple of times and had to roll over to it and the wife had to use it to lift me back up , getting old is a ***** .
