Geez, and you are downloading the Home premium upgrade version? Awful slow. I think even Fred Flinstone's computer was faster.

On sale at most places for $119 for Home, $199 for Pro. Upgrade retail box versions. Since I have already got to play with 7 some for the last year, I am gonna wait a bit to get it and will probably get the Full OEM Ultimate version if one is available.

You have to admit, XP has been around a long time and I thnk they perfected it, or close to. I know XP Pro sure is stable. Then came Vista and I think the only reason 7 came out so quick is the general population did not like Vista. So they listened to the complaints, fixed Vista and rather than just set it up as a Service Pack, they called it 7, so they could recover some revenue that they did not get from the Vista flop. So with the changes all new hype, all new launch and unveiling in hopes to generate a good lift off and create some revenue. Just my thinking anyway. If 7 gets off the ground well, I think it will be around for several years like XP did. But it is not going to take off out the gate like they'd hope it would because the general population is going to wait and see whats its about FIRST before they buy it. But it is Christmas season, so MS will be selling lots of OEM versions and 7 will get plenty of exposrue that way, then people will buy it. So I do not expect the 7 sales to be boomin til about January. And that will only happen IF Windows 7 is good and people like it.

I'm just PO'd at Microsoft.

After I figured out how to clear out a bunch of stuff I didn't want my puter runs pretty good little or no probs.

This after droping a grand on it (and Vista was all that was offered on new computers )and it took all this time fighting with HP( Tech support crashed my 1st Laptop faulty RECALLED motherboard fried my second) and MS on the phone for the first year and then the rest on my own(trial and error) and NOW they come out with a new OS(Vista now the shortest running OS before they launched a new one I think) ADMIT they F'd up and don't give a HUGE discount to Vista owners over people buying new or upgrading from XP!

But other than going with Mac you're basically SOL if you want a change!
