Well working for Chrysler and knowing that they were owned by them once and having a few half breeds like the crossfire, I can say that it definitely sounds like water/coolant contamination. Smell the exhuast if it smells sweet then you have a blown head gasket. same idea applies like Bernie said about the sniffer in the rad. cap opening. Check the dip stick if it looks a little rusty not varnish but rusty then you have water in the engine. Better yet tell your Roomie to trade in for an AMERICAN car.

wouldnt the car run like @#$% if the head gasket were blown? as much as i hate that car, the power output is impressive as ever.

Good point but if the leak is accuring before the engine reaches op. tmep. them maybe not or if the leak is in a postion not to interact with the combustion chamber like on the 60* GM engines like Hotrod said.
